Friends
Loyal, True
Loving, Comforting, Caring
Laughter, Tears, Happiness, Sorrow
Teasing, Touching, Smiling
Hopeless, Fun
Enemies.
FRENEMY
There was one—
I thought she was my friend.
Second to none.
To unkind report of her,
I would not
One ear lend.
But she lied to me—
My closest, my friend!
And I could not,
Honestly,
Her defend.
My heart of that,
Is never free.
There was one—
I thought she was my foe.
First to shun,
I shut my eyes
My head turned away.
She tried to be
My friend.
I couldn’t know.
Patience was a virtue
I didn’t show.
Yet seeds of kindness
Did she sew
And in my heart
They began to
Grow.
The flower of friendship
Opened,
A friend
Dearer than sister
Have I now.
A past friend is my foe,
Past foe present friend.
